The National Progressive Councilors Forum of the All Progressive Congress (APC) has commended the National Assembly for the amendment of the Electoral Act 2022 that allows them to participate in the conduct of elections including political parties congresses, conventions and primaries.

National Chairman of the forum, Hon Muslihu Yusuf Ali, gave the commendation in a statement on Thursday.

“This to appreciate the efforts of both chambers of National Assembly that amended the electoral act 2022 on Tuesday 9th,may,2022 to accommodate elected councilors and other statutory delegates to participate and vote at all respective political parties congresses, conventions and primaries.”

“It’s well-known that councilors’ are the most closest to the people and they will play vital role to choose right candidates at all level since their primary  community responsibility is to serves as a bridge to connect grassroots groups and their government for the purpose of development and welfare,” he said.

He urged the leadership of the party at state and national level to implement amended section to allow them participate in the coming election in the country.

“On behalf of all APC serving councilor’s under our leadership, I like to call on the National Chairman of APC Senator Abdullahi Adamu, our governors and other stakeholders to kindly adopt and implement the amended section and allow us to participate in APC national conventions and primaries to join other statutory candidates,” he said.
