APC crisis deepens in FCT council

The embattled chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bwari Area Council of the FCT, Aliyu Tanko Shere, has said all the articles cited by the party executives to announce his suspension do not exist in the party’s constitution.

He insisted that he remainsed the authentic chairman of the party in the council.

Shere, reacting to his suspension, said the purported articles 21.6, 21.7, 21.10, and 21.11 do not exist in the APC’s constitution.

He described his suspension as a malicious act by the author aimed at “casting evidence” against him.

The APC secretary in the council, Shuaibu Musa Rade, had, in a communiqué resulting from a local government excos meeting dated August 18, 2025, announced the suspension of the embattled APC chairman, Tanko Aliyu Shere.

He was accused of alleged high-handedness in running party affairs without consultation, taking sides with an aspirant before the party’s chairmanship primary on June 25, 2025, and alleged unilateral actions, including writing the election report and nominating committee members without consulting the excos, among other issues.

Shere, however, denied taking sides with any aspirants before or during any chairmanship primary election since he became the APC chapter chairman in Bwari, stating his position has always been to propagate and promote unity among all members of the party.

APC ward executives expel party secretary

Meanwhile, the All Progressives Congress (APC) executives at Kuduru Ward of Bwari Area Council have announced the expulsion of the party’s secretary in the council, Shuaibu Musa Rade, from the party.

The expulsion of the party’s scribe, which was contained in a letter dated August 20, 2026, was signed by the Kuduru APC Ward chairman, Dikko Fazawoyi.

A copy of the expulsion letter, which was signed by 25 ward excos and obtained by our correspondent, was also copied to the Bwari APC chairman, Tanko Aliyu Shere, and APC state chairman, Alhaji Abdulmalik Usman.

Reacting to his expulsion, the embattled APC secretary, Shuaibu Musa Rade, said he had not committed any offence against the party’s constitution that would warrant such a punishment.

He alleged that some key party stakeholders, who were unhappy with the suspension of the APC chairman, sponsored his expulsion.
