The national chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof Nentawe Yilwatda, has said that its governors have embarked on grassroots mobilisation ahead of February 21, 2026 Area Council elections in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.

He stated this on Friday during the inauguration ceremony of the National Campaign Council for the FCT.

Yilwatda expressed confidence that with commitment from party leaders and supporters, the APC would emerge victorious in the forthcoming Area Council election.

He described the FCT election as a strategic political contest that requires unity, coordination and effective grassroots mobilisation across all six area councils.

He said the forthcoming Area Council election presented an opportunity for the ruling party to reclaim lost ground and consolidate the party’s dominance ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In his acceptance speech, the chairman of the campaign council and Governor of Kwara State, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, pledged to deliver victory for the party.

He assured that members of the campaign council would mobilise voters and strengthen grassroots structures to secure success at the polls.

Also speaking, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, explained the reasons why Igbo residents in the Federal Capital Territory would mobilise votes massively to ensure victory for the APC.
