Elders and stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) across the six states in the North Central, led by a former Senate president, Ameh Ebute, on Wednesday, stormed the party’s national secretariat with a crowd of supporters where they passed a vote of confidence on the party’s national chairman, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.

The stakeholders, numbering over 25, said agitations by some elements in the party that the office of national chairman be retained by the North Central was not in the interest of the party but a move that would spell doom for the APC.

Recall that posters of the immediate past governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, for APC national chairman, recently appeared on some Abuja streets, including at the APC national secretariat, but Bello immediately dissociated himself from the posters.

Speaking during the event attended by members of the National Working Committee (NWC) and other party officials, Ebute said those calling for Ganduje’s exit were not sensitive to the stability of the party.

Reacting, Ganduje said there was a need for the party stakeholders to work with President Bola Tinubu in his effort to maintain peace and security in Nigeria while also focusing on how the party would deliver Edo and Ondo states in the coming elections.
