Barring any last minute development, members of the Nasarawa House of Assembly have resolved to share the position of speaker and deputy speaker between the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the main opposition, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Daily Trust gathered that Danladi Jatau (APC, Kokona West) has been penned down as the new speaker while Mohammed Oyanki (PDP, Doma North) has also been penciled down for the position of the deputy speaker.
The development, our correspondent learnt, followed a meeting between the state assembly members and Governor Abdullahi Sule at the Government House Lafia, on Thursday.
A source in the government house, who pleaded for anonymity, confided in our correspondent that the emergence of the new assembly leadership was “a done-deal”.

According to the source, Jatau and Oyanki were the anointed candidates of the governor and members, and they would be officially inaugurated either today after the presentation of the budget by the state governor or on Monday at the latest.
The emergence of the new leadership followed the vacuum created by the sack of the immediate past speaker, Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi (APC) by the Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja recently.
