Former Executive Director of the National Primary Health Care Development Agency, Dr. Faisal Shuaib, has emerged winner of the All Progressives Congress primary election in Nasarawa West Senatorial District.
The Returning Officer of the election, Musa Shuaibu Guri, announced the result on Wednesday in Keffi, the zonal headquarters.
Guri said the primary held on May 18 across the five local government areas of Keffi, Toto, Nasarawa, Kokona, and Karu, was peaceful and transparently observed.
He stated that Shuaib secured 98,614 votes through an affirmation process.
He commended Governor Abdullahi Sule for providing the enabling environment and cooperation that allowed the committee to carry out its assignment.
With the announcement, results for two of Nasarawa’s three senatorial districts are now out.
Governor Sule was earlier declared winner of the Nasarawa North primary, defeating former Deputy Governor, Silas Ali Agara.
The result for Nasarawa South is still pending. Deputy Governor Emmanuel Akabe and House of Representatives member for Awe/Doma/Keana, Abubakar Hassan Nalaraba, are contesting for the ticket.
Speaking to journalists, Acting Director-General of the DFS Campaign Movement, Yusuf Omaki, thanked stakeholders in Nasarawa West for their confidence in Dr. Shuaib.
He pledged that Shuaib would justify the trust reposed in him and called for reconciliation with other aspirants ahead of the general election.
Omaki said the former NPHCDA boss has the competence and global experience to attract significant investment to the zone, the state, and the National Assembly.
He urged stakeholders to sustain their collaboration beyond the primary for collective development.
