Senator representing Sokoto east zone, Abdullahi Ibrahim Gobir has won his re-election bid under the platform of the All Progressives Congress.
He got 170,665 votes to beat the PDP candidate Salihu Maidaji, who is the incumbent Speaker Sokoto state House of Assembly who had 140,322 votes.
The result for the senatorial election was declared by the Returning Officer Prof. Mansur Ibrahim Sa’id, DVC Administration, Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto, UDUS.
Out of the eight local government areas under the zone, APC had the highest number of votes in six, while PDP won in two.
