National Leader of the Tinubu Support Group, Grassroot Governance Performance Awareness Network Initiative, Alhaji Korede Quadri, has warned the National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) against any attempt to alter the outcome of the party’s recently concluded primary elections.
Quadri urged the party’s leadership to ensure that only candidates who emerged victorious through the primaries are forwarded to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
While commending President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, and members of the NWC for overseeing what he described as a transparent and credible primary process, Quadri expressed concern over reports and speculations suggesting that efforts were underway in some states to replace duly elected candidates with aspirants who lost at the polls.
He said such moves could undermine the integrity of the party’s democratic process and create avoidable disputes.
“Any attempt to substitute or alter the names of candidates who emerged through validly conducted primaries would amount to a disregard for the wishes of party members and could trigger avoidable disputes and litigation,” he said.
He further warned that allegations of attempts to manipulate the outcome of the primaries in favour of unsuccessful aspirants, if allowed to stand, would erode confidence in the party’s leadership.
“It has been alleged in some states that there are ongoing efforts to manipulate the outcome of the primaries in favour of individuals who were unable to secure return tickets through the democratic process. Such actions, if allowed to stand, would undermine the credibility of the exercise and the confidence party members have reposed in the leadership of the party,” Quadri stated.
