He said the PDP government had not only proved incapable of delivering effective governance, but also made itself unpopular, thereby making change of guards easy and desirable.
Yahaya Kwande, a former ambassador to Switzerland, who spoke at the inauguration of state and local government executives of the APC at the Plateau State capital, Jos, stressed that by its low performance, the ruling PDP had designed its own fall at the coming general election.
He, therefore, said that the APC would not have face any challenge in its quest to win the governorship election in February next year.
The elder statesman, who was in the PDP before he left for the Peoples Democratic Movement (PDM) and subsequently to the APC, spoke against the division in the APC in Plateau State.
Trouble started for the party when its congress in April this year produced a state chairman, Latep Dabang, whom some notable members of the party, including its pre-congress interim chairman, Senator John Shagaya, and interim secretary, Alhaji Ibrahim Dasuki Nakande opposed.
Two weeks ago, Shagaya led what many now regarded as a faction of the party to install Amos Gombi, Dabang’s closest rival in the April 30 state congress, as the state party chairman.
At the inauguration yesterday, Latep Dabang who was speaking publicly for the first time about the fracas in the party, said it was those who wanted the party not to do well in Plateau that were working to sabotage it.
He thanked his fellow state executives who had refused to recognize Gombi, for their loyalty to him.
Dabang promised to do his best to ride the storm in the party and begin to prepare earnestly towards 2015.
