Director of special duties for APGA governorship candidate in the state, Dr Alex Otti campaign organisation, Chief Nwaka Inem, who made this public in Umuahia, while briefing newsmen yesterday, said Nwokocha had alleged that he was shot at various times by unknown gunmen attached to the convoy of Dr Otti last Saturday.
In a letter addressed to the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Suleiman Abba and made available to journalists, Inem noted that the allegation was intended to heat up the polity and create a fertile ground for violent attacks on APGA and its candidate.
“We want to state categorically here that Dr. Alex Otti as a peace loving man, has never been linked in any way with violence all his life, so one wonders how on earth he will authorise the shooting of Nwokocha when they have nothing in contention at all level, be it politically or economically,” the letter said.
It said given the several acts of wanton brigandage that have denoted the campaign of the PDP in the contest, APGA is very worried that the accusation was a scheme invented to soften the ground for a fresh attack on the party’s candidates under a phantom reprisal.
It called on the IGP to swiftly investigate the invasion of Otti’s house and the case of the alleged shooting of Nwokocha, saying “our research has proven that the purpose of this allegation is to create violence and to armtwist security agencies to withdraw their personnel attached to Dr Alex Otti to prepare grounds to perfect their ultimate sinister plan against him.”
