The angry youths who poured out on the streets of Nnewi down to Amichi, Nnewi South Local Government Area to confront Gov Willie Obiano at the official opening of a customary court at the weekend, described the substitution as unfortunate and undemocratic.
The spokesman of the group, Mr Ugochukwu Ewim said that Orizu emerged victorious by polling 31 votes followed by Hon Amala Anazodo who had 28 votes and Mr Kenneth Oranekwe with 24 votes.
Ewim, a member of the party’s executive in Nnewi North LGA said the removal of Orizu for Anazodo on the ground that he is not a member of APGA is baseless as he has been the party’s legal adviser for nine years. He also stressed that Orizu conducted local government elections for Ihiala and Onitsha South council areas because he is a member of the party.
The APGA group spokesman appealed to the governor to allow the wish of the people prevail because Barr Orizu was carefully chosen based on his ability to give quality representation to his constituency, adding that the area has not been lucky to have a commendable representative.
