Apostle, others convert to Islam in Oyo

A 64-year-old founder of a white garment church, Apostle Joel Jayepe Bankole, his congregation and seven others have accepted Islam in Eruwa, the headquarters of Ibarapa East Local Government of Oyo State.

At a programme held at Eruwa Central Mosque, the new converts who had earlier had Islamic ritual bath openly testified to the declaration of “Lailaha ilallahu Muhammadu Rosulullahi” that ‘there is no god except Allah and Muhammed is His messenger’

Two other converts, a secondary school teacher, Mr. Sunday Odugbemi now Mr. Soliu Odugbemi and Mr. Samson Adewole now Mr. Samsudeen Adewole said they accepted Islam based on evidences from Qur’an and Bible.

In a lecture entitled ‘Why Islam is my choice’ the guest lecturer, Dr Dawood Amoo-Alaga described Islam as a universal religion with uniform acts of worship, content and language.

Dr Amoo-Alaga emphasized that Islam proffers solutions to all challenges, urging Muslims to be firm in their belief.

In a welcome address, Chairman, Eruwa Muslim Community, Alhaji Lateef Afolabi urged other Muslims to accommodate the new converts with a view to guiding their faith and equipping them with Islamic knowledge.

Alhaji Afolabi enjoined the new Muslims to resist the temptation of going back to the former practice, urging them to be convinced that accepting Islam is the height of success.

The chief Imam of Eruwaland, Alhaji Sheu Tijani prayed for Allah’s guidance and protection on Keilani Bankole and other converts.
