Police in Nasarawa State have warned residents to desist from all forms of violence during and after the appeal court ruling on the state’s governorship election. 

The appellate court is billed to rule on the appeal filed by the state’s governor, Abdullahi Sule, on the governorship petition tribunal judgement, which nullified his election.

The tribunal declared the governor’s main challenger, David Ombugadu of the PDP as the lawful winner of the March 18 election in the state.

The acting Commissioner of Police in the state, Shettima Jauro Mohammed, at a press conference in Lafia yesterday said police officers had been deployed to the 13 local government areas of the state to avert any breakdown of law and order.

The acting police boss, however, urged political parties in the state to call their supporters to order and avoid engaging in any form of violence.

He warned that anyone arrested for causing trouble in the state would be made to face the full wrath of the law.
