Artist In Residency (AIR) Rockefeller Foundation’s Bellagio Residency Program is to close receiving applications on December 16, 2017.

The Africa Centre opened its call for its residency program early November. The residency consists of a four-week stay at the Bellagio Centre on Lake Como, Italy.

Africa Centre seeks fiction and non-fiction writers, playwrights, poets, video/filmmakers, composers, and visual artists, whose work is inspired by or relates to global or social issues. It wants high-caliber African artists, in different stages of their development, from emerging to late career. 

Residents and their spouses receive free room and board as well as a space to work. Africa Centre will provide travel grants and modest stipends to offset incidental travel costs on a needs basis.

Interested artists must show a history of significant achievement, and published works, group or solo exhibitions. They should have had a considerable impact, or have gained critical attention and international recognition. They must also be able to demonstrate that their work influences a wide audience.

Applicants are asked to submit an application form, a one-page letter of recommendation from the outreach and selection partner, work samples, a CV, and published reviews. Also, a chapter, section, draft or brief outline of the project they wish to work on at the Bellagio Centre.

For the emerging to mid-career residency, artists can only submit application through the Rockefeller Foundation Bellagio Residency FluidReview online portal.
