The Arewa Youth Assembly (AYA) in conjunction with Civil Society Organisations has called on the President Muhammadu Buhari to ensure persons from all regions in the country are appointed in his next tenure.
The youths, who held a rally in Abuja on Thursday, urged the President to look beyond party affiliation and appoint people who are competent and will also represent the various regions and groups in the country.
The Speaker of AYA, Mohammed Salihu Danlami, told newsmen at the rally that though the organisation was aware of the accusations thrown at the president over his appointments, many of the accusers don’t mean well for the country.
According to him, the purveyors of such accusations don’t mean well for Nigeria or seek to protect the interest of the regions they claimed to be agitating for.
Danlami pointed out Nigeria requires a nationalistic leadership that will accommodate its peoples and provide an all inclusive fair treatment for all the divergent groups based of equality and fairness to everybody.
The group cautioned also President Buhari against those who would want to misdirect him by advising appointments should be based on the number of votes he got from each state and region.
