The natives of the FCT under the umbrella of Coalition of Abuja Indigenous Associations (CAIA), have threatened to petition the President if the FCT minister, Muhammad Musa Bello, does not review the appointment of mandate secretaries and political aides made recently.
They said failure by the minister to review the entire appointments to include natives, they may have no other option than to petition President Muhammadu Buhari, about their marginalisation.
A statement by the Secretary General of the group, Barrister Christopher Dada, which was issued to newsmen in Abuja, yesterday, noted that the recent appointments carried out by the minister did not favour the natives of the territory
They alleged that none of the natives was appointed as mandate secretary or senior special assistant by the minister, saying there was need for him to respect the rule of law to ensure equal democratic dividends for effective and proficient administration.
He said the natives were aware of the illegalities involving the appointment of acting directors for a period exceeding one year without confirmation as substantive directors.
“And this is viewed as a deliberate aberration and misnomer. In this vein, we urge the minister to as a matter of integrity respect the rule of law and equal share of democratic dividends,” the statement said.
It added that, “the coalition will be left with no option but to petition Mr President, to formerly register our marginalisation by the minister, Muhammad Musa Bello,” it said.
The CAIA, meanwhile, has congratulated the two newly appointed natives of the FCT, Tanko Yamawo and Isah Dara Bwari.
