Ogun police command, yesterday, confirmed the arrest of 18-year-old Adeboye Michael and his two friends for allegedly faking his abduction in order to dupe his master of N500,000.

It was learnt that the arrest of the trio followed a complaint lodged at Oke-Itoku Police Station by one Oluwoju Ojo Abiodun.

The complainant reportedly said he had sent Michael who is his apprentice to make a deposit of N500,000 at the bank only for him to receive a call after some hours that the boy has been kidnapped.

He was further quoted to have informed the police that the “abductors” demanded N1m ransom to release the boy.

A statement by the command’s spokesman, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said operatives of the command’s anti-kidnapping section arrested the suspects, and that “the acclaimed victim emerged with series of stories on his fake abduction.”

The prime suspect in a confessional statement said “he only lodged in an hotel with two girls where he squandered his boss’ money which he was supposed to deposit at the bank. N120,000 being part of the money was recovered from him.”

 

However, the Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iliyasu has directed that the suspects be arraigned before a court of competent jurisdiction as soon as the investigation is concluded.
