The Association of Professional Women Engineers of Nigeria (APWEN) has said it will strengthen support systems, business development workshops and access to funding for its members.
The new APWEN President, Engr. Chinyere Nnena Igwegbe, revealed this when she was inaugurated as its 19th President at the investiture ceremony held in Abuja at the weekend.
Igwegbe said APWEN’s vision remains to be the leading platform for women engineers, promoting excellence, innovation, and sustainable national development.
While strategy must define APWEN’s growth, she said her focus shall be on research, development and innovation, impacting our immediate environment girl child and STEM advancement.
She said the association will champion the nurturing of youth engineers and provide employability skills, entrepreneurship and economic empowerment, collaboration and strategic membership growth shall also remain on the front burner.
While soliciting the support of APWEN members to make the vision of a befitting National Secretariat for APWEN a reality, she reminded them of forthcoming International Conference which she said will be solution-oriented and industry-driven.

In his remarks, President of Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Engr. Ali Alimasuya Rabiu, said women engineers are central actors in engineering progress and congratulated the new President for the confidence her colleagues had shown.
