Arabic Village Ngala introduces modern teaching methods

Lecturers at the Nigeria Arabic Village, Ngala, Borno State have been trained on modern teaching methods.  

The lecturers participated in a capacity building workshop under the theme; ‘Modern Techniques for Teaching Arabic Language,’ which was  facilitated by international experts in teaching Arabic language in Maiduguri.    

The Director of the village, Professor Ibrahim Muhammad said the essence of the workshop was to improve teaching and learning of Arabic and to develop the skills of lecturers to compete with their peers’ world over.  

He said lecturers from various universities tended to ‘play down’ their colleagues at the village due to the use of outdated teaching methods; but at the end of the workshop, they were able to use modern methods capable of developing student critical thinking, problem-solving and decision-making skills.  

Professor Muhammad said the exercise will be continuous and the village will collaborate with other agencies to sponsor the training of its lecturers abroad.  

Leader of the workshop facilitators, Professor Attahir Mohammed Dawud, said the lecturers were able to acquire new educational trends in teaching and learning.
