Pilgrims in large number on Monday besieged Jabal Rahma (The Mountain of Mercy) where they sought for Allah’s forgiveness and righteous life.
Located in the precinct of Arafat, the mountain of mercy was today a beehive of activities as Muslims, drawn from all over the world who made it for the hajj spiritual journey defied the scorching sun and made efforts to climb the conspicuous rock where they offered suplications.
The Muslims reverred Jabal Rahmah because it held a significant meaning. it was the location where Prophet Adam A.S. and his wife Hauwa’u were reportedly reunited long after they were eased out of paradise.
The Jabal Rahma was also where Prophet Muhammad S.A.W. delivered his final sermon of his final Hajj.
Though pilgrims could stand in any place in the vast plain of Arafat during the whole day rituals which ended at sunset, many of them including men and women made effort to visit the mountain for various reasons.
Today’s temperature was more than 40 degrees; but the hot climate did not discouraged pilgrims to trek long distances to catch a glimpse at the historic rock.
While the agile ones struggled and reached peak of the mountain, the elderly and women found spaces at the foot of the mountain where they prayed.
Many pilgrims were seen visibly crying as they sought for Allah’s mercies.
Humanitarian agencies and corporate organizations distributed thousands of umbrellas to pilgrims to cover their heads.
Cold water and soft drinks were equally given out to pilgrims to help them quench their taste.
More than two million pilgrims stood at the plain of Arafat today, a prerequisite for one’s hajj to be accepted
