The sermon on Mount Arafat in the ongoing Hajj exercise will be translated in Hausa and 19 other languages to reach over one billion people across the world.

Over 1.5 million pilgrims are expected to converge at the plain of Mount Arafat, amongst who are 65,000 Nigerian Muslims who would listen to the sermon.

The General Presidency for the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques will oversee the sermon broadcast, as reported by the Saudi Press Agency.

President of the general presidency, Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Abdulaziz Al-Sudais, said the highlight of the Islam’s message (khutba) includes religious tolerance, moderation and peace.

Ahmed Al-Hamidi, the deputy general president for languages and translation, said the translation aligned with the agency’s strategic plan for 2024.

He said the sermon is to be translated into French, English, Persian, Urdu, Hausa, Russian, Turkish, Punjabi, Chinese, Malay, Swahili, Spanish, Portuguese, Amharic, German, Swedish, Italian, Malayalam, Bosnian and Filipino.

He said the Manarat Al-Haramain digital platform, The Qur’an and the Sunnah of the Prophet channels, and 10 FM radio stations would broadcast the sermon.

The day of Arafah is considered important by Muslims. It is also known as the “Day of Repentance”.

It also holds great importance as the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) delivered his Farewell Sermon on the Mount of Arafat.

Arafat Day comes on the day before the start of Eid al-Adha and marks the second day of Hajj.
