The Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria (ARCON) has budgeted N735 million for the construction of Amagu-Ewawoke link bridge in Ebonyi central senatorial district in its 2026 budget.
A breakdown of the budget by Daily Trust show that the agency also plans to spend N350 million for the construction and renovation of some classroom blocks in some selected schools across Ebonyi central senatorial district
Also, the agency budgeted N35 million for supply and distribution to farmers in same Ebonyi central senatorial district
Checks by Daily Trust show that ARCON is the federal agency regulating only advertising practice in the country under the supervision of the federal ministry of Information and national orientation.
However, Daily Trust could not ascertain why the agency budgeted huge sums for construction of link bridge, classrooms and supply of fertilizer to farmers which is in the purview of the ministry of works as well as Agriculture.
Also Daily Trust found out that majority of the projects of ARCON are domiciled in Ebonyi central senatorial district.
Out of the agency’s N3.2 billion total budget, almost 50 per cent is dedicated to projects in Ebonyi central senatorial district.
Other items in the budget include training of youths and women in modern agro business ventures in same Ebonyi central senatorial district amounting to N35 million
It also budgeted N98.8 million for the purchase of two monitoring trucks for reporting unapproved advertising and marketing communications in Abuja and Lagos
The agency also set aside N70 million for the provision of essential tools to support artisans in Ede North and other federal constituencies in Osun state.
