Ardo’s son, 2 women abducted in Kaduna village

Bandits have reportedly abducted the son of the former Ardo of the Fulani in the Azara community, Alhaji Isah Wakili, alongside two women in the Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

A community leader from the area, who preferred to remain anonymous, confirmed the kidnapping to our reporter via telephone on Thursday morning.

He stated that the incident occurred on Tuesday around 11:23pm when bandits wielding sophisticated weapons stormed the victims’ residences in the Yelwa community, located near Jere town.

The source explained that the bandits first invaded the home of the former Ardo’s son and whisked him away before proceeding to another house, where they abducted two housewives.

“The bandits apparently came with the intention of abducting the husband at the second house, but since he was not at home, they took his two wives at gunpoint,” he said.

Ibrahim Hussaini, a member of the vigilante group in Jere town, also confirmed the incident. He noted that the primary victim, the son of the former Ardo of Azara, had recently relocated to Yelwa after being trailed by bandits for over two years.

“The unfortunate thing is that the man was forced to relocate from Azara to Yelwa because bandits had been trailing him for two years. They finally traced him to Yelwa on Tuesday night,” Hussaini said.

He added that vigilantes and security operatives have since entered the forest in an effort to rescue the victims.

The spokesperson for the Kaduna State Police Command, DSP Hassan Mansur, had not yet confirmed the abduction at the time of filing the report.
