Past governors, past and serving state and federal legislators, who know what the people’s priorities are but decide to be blind to the autocratic style of governance happening in the state, should call the governor to order.

There are many misplaced priorities, such as building of several new but empty schools without administrative blocks, new empty hospitals without staff across the state, the abandoned Birnin Kebbi metropolitan roads projects, the over N13 billion state airport upgrading and many others spread in the state, at the expense of dilapidated, ill-equipped schools and hospitals while the so-called influential intellectuals in the state are watching but doing nothing.

A recent public opinion on the brazen disregard to due process in the award of contracts at the state primary education board and other places couldn’t have been countered by the officials of state’s due process if untrue.

Other worrisome white elephant projects of the government are abandoned public utilities, such as the closed Hafsat Eye Centre, building of the state polytechnic and new NYSC camp, all at the governor’s home village Dakin Gari, when there are urban cities with requisite infrastructure that can host it with minimum cost to state.

Others are the abandoned Bunza-Kuka-Makera-Gulma road projects, abandoned mass housing project in Birnin Kebbi, abandoned Kofa Sabuwa-old prison, Rafin Aliku and Shiyyar Sarakuna road projects.

As a youth activist, I feel compelled to call on our elders, traditional leaders, intellectuals and all well meaning citizens of my state to stop folding their arms and continue watching things going wrong in my impoverished state, with the future of our children hanging in the balance.
