Aregbesola reiterates commitment to quality heath service delivery

Osun State Governor, Rauf Aregbesola has reiterated the commitment of his administration to the provision of quality health care delivery in the state to ensure a better and healthy living.

The governor said this in Osogbo during the grand finale of the National Florence Nightingale Trophy Speech Contest for students of schools of nursing across the country.

Aregbesola who was represented by his Deputy, Mrs Grace Tomori said the current administration in Osun state accords priority to health care delivery and assured that government would not relent in its efforts to ensure that people of the state live healthy life.

The governor attributed the victory of a nursing student from Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital, Wesley Guild, Ilesas, Miss Daramola Ibukunoluwa who came first in this year edition of contest as a manifestation of the success of Osun State government in the health sector.

He pledged that the state government would continue to encourage and motivate up and coming health professionals to shine in their education so as to enhancing healthy living among the people.

Aregbesola noted that as part of determination to ensure quality health delivery system, his administration embarked on recruitment of qualified hands to address the dearth of core professional tutors in the health sector and improve the standard of practice of nursing in the state.

Speaking earlier, the chairman of Osun State House of Assembly’s Committee on Health, Hon Leke Ogunsola commended diligence of nurses for their commitment to high level professional ethics in spite of diverse challenges which is not peculiar to Osun State only.

Also speaking, the Permanent Secretary, Osun State ministry of health, Dr Akinyinka Oluseyi Esho charged nursing students to use the contest to develop themselves and their career.

The Chairman of National Committee for Florence Nightingale Trophy Speech Contest, Mrs Moromoke Awodiya said the contest was an opportunity for nursing students to exhibit their brilliance and urged them to make good use of the opportunity.
