The governor said this at the official inauguration of the Osun Rural Mobility Project (RAMP) and flag off of the 225 kilometre road project at Ira village, off Ilesa-Akure Express Way, Osun State.
Aregbesola pointed out that with the development of agriculture, the festering cancer of hunger, unemployment, poverty, and poor education can be dealt with.
The governor said the efforts of his administration in this area of opening up rural roads have fortunately attracted the attention of development partners in the agricultural sector.
Aregbesola noted that the project was supported by the World Bank and French Development Agency.
He said further that the efforts have also attracted assistance of development partners who have been doing a lot to enhance the road infrastructure development in the rural areas in Osun.
According to him, the project would go a long way in furthering the objective of his administration in linking the rural areas with the urban areas both within and outside the state.
The Governor said that modernising Osun agricultural practices would be his administration’s catalyst for effectively dealing with many of the major social and economic problems confronting the state.
According to him, the Rural Access and Mobility Project is a tool for rural transformation in addressing the basic needs of transporting goods and services in the grassroots.
