The Arewa Youth Assembly has reiterated its support and confidence in Nigeria’s Security Chiefs, urging citizens to avoid politicising matters of national security.

In a statement signed by its Publicity Secretary, Aliyu Muhammad, the group cautioned that calls for sudden changes in the nation’s security architecture could disrupt ongoing counter-terrorism and anti-banditry operations across the country.

“National security should not be politicised in any way. A sudden change in the leadership of our security agencies would interrupt stability and continuity in the fight against insecurity,” the statement read.

Highlighting recent achievements, the youths cited clearance operations that degraded bandit enclaves in Zamfara, Kaduna, and Niger states; the elimination of several Boko Haram and ISWAP commanders; and enhanced intelligence sharing among security agencies.

They also noted improvements in civil-military relations through community projects and medical outreaches, as well as a reduction in crude oil theft in the Niger Delta following sustained patrols and surveillance.

The group further commended successful rescue operations of kidnapped victims and the arrest of thousands of criminal suspects nationwide.

While reaffirming their confidence in the Service Chiefs, the Arewa Youth Assembly urged Nigerians to support ongoing security efforts, stressing the need for adequate funding and public cooperation to sustain gains made so far.
