The Okochiri Allstars of Okrika have emerged winners of the 2025 edition of the Civil-military novelty football tournament in Rivers State.
The competition, organized by the Nigerian Army 6 Division Garrison as part of activities for Nigerian Army Day Celebration (NADCEL) 2025, had some selected teams drawn from the 6 Division Nigerian Army and host communities competing at Okrika Grammar school field, Okrika Local Government Area of the state.
Okochiri Allstars emerged champions after defeating Python FC 4-2 on penalties.
Meanwhile, Damisa FC finished third after beating Kalifonia Allstars 2-1 in the losers’ match.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, the General Officer Commanding (GOC), 6 Division, Nigerian Army, Major General Emmanuel Eric Emekah, emphasized the importance of civil-military relations and the role of sporting events in fostering trust, understanding, and cooperation between the Nigerian Army and its host communities.
Represented by the Chief of Staff, Headquarters 6 Division, Brigadier General Emmanuel Adamu, the GOC commended the participants for their exemplary sportsmanship and teamwork.
Emekah reiterated that the interaction through sports helps to strengthen the bond between the Army and the civilian populace.
He also praised the Chief Host, Commander 6 Division Garrison, Brigadier General Sani Ahmed, and the organizing team for the laudable initiative.
In his remarks, Brigadier General Sani Ahmed congratulated Okochiri FC on their victory and harped on the need for harmonious existence with the civil populace.
