Operatives of the 4 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, Benin City, in collaboration with Edo State Security Corps (ESSC), have neutralised a suspected kidnapper and rescued four victims in Warake Forest, Owan East Local Government of the State.
The troops also arrested a suspected kidnapper, identified as Omogbegha Solomon, 39, in a separate raid on a house in Ujemen, Esan West Local Government Area, suspected to be a kidnappers’ hideout.
The Assistant Director of Army Public Relations for 4 Brigade, Captain Kennedy Anyanwu, stated that the victims were rescued during the Operation IGBO DANU night patrol in Warake Forest in the State.
According to him, the suspected kidnapper was neutralised in a gun battle with the troops during the operation, forcing the remaining suspects to abandon their victims and flee into the bush.

He said the rescued victims included Stella Abbas, 29; Tina Ododa, 19; Razak Rashid, 27; and Mutanibi Kalifa, 16.
He added that the victims had been reunited with their families.
He explained that during a raid on the arrested suspect’s house, the troops discovered a shrine containing charms and photographs of various individuals in an abandoned room within the compound.
He said the shrine was destroyed while the suspect was handed over to the police for further investigation and prosecution.
