Donating the items, the President of the Nigeria Army Officers Wives Association, Hajiya Hadiza Abdurrahman Dambazau, said the charity was informed by the desire to identify with the less privileged in the society, “This programme is aimed at putting some smiles on the faces of the less privileged,” she said.
Hadiza said they decided to celebrate the annual event in this way. She urged the care givers at these centres to show compassion and care while dealing most especially with the orphans and the other destitutes. Addressing the care givers at Nassarawa Children Home, she said, “You should take good care of the children, show them love and compassion as you would your children. God will definitely reward you for doing this great work of taking care of orphans,” she added.
Expressing her gratitude for the kind gesture, the Chief Social Welfare Officer of the Nassarawa Children Home, Hajiya Fatima Mahmud Sa’id, said the gesture was highly appreciated. She assured them of a judicious use of the items. The officers’ wives paid a courtesy call on the state governor at the government house and the emir’s palace.
