Super Eagles of Nigeria striker Tolu Arokodare forced relegated English Premier Lesague Club Wolvverhampton Wanderers to cancel training to push through his transfer request.

According to reports, Arokodare sat on the pitch to prevent the first team from training as he demanded the club agrees to a move to Fiorentina.

Arokodare joined Wolves last summer in a blockbuster move and was expected to have a breakthrough campaign, but the tall striker failed to make his mark in England as Wolves finished the season bottom of the table.

Preparing for life in the English Championship, Wolves listened to offers for the 25-year-old and accepted a bid from Turkish Super Lig club, Trabzonspor, but rejected Fiorentina’s bid.

The club hired Portuguese coach Cesar Peixoto who announced to Arokodare he would no longer train with the first team. However, the striker refused to leave in protest and demanded the club accepts Fiorentina’s bid, leading to cancellation of training.

Extra security was needed to remove Arokodare from the facility, and he has been removed from the club’s pre-season activities.

Arokodare had no previous club-related issues in his career before joining Wolves, but has been fined for a verbal assault on Mateus Mane once before the current sit-in protest.

He scored only three goals in 33 appearances for the West Midlands club.
