The police in Zamfara State have arrested 13 armed robbery suspects and recovered four vehicles and dozens of stolen motorbikes.
The police commissioner, Usman Nagogo, said the suspects were Mohammed Dahiru alias ‘Emeka Pastor’, Abubakar Ahmed, Sani Garba, Sama’ila Abubakar and Abubakar Ibrahim.
He said the exhibits recovered included one Mark Rout pistol with two rounds of live ammunition, one Toyota Hillux vehicle belonging to National Directorate of Employment (NDE) office, Zamfara State, and one Toyota Corolla S.
Others were one Toyota Corolla, one Honda Accord, four plasma TVs, three generators and one sewing machine.
The suspected members of the motorcycle snatching syndicate that were arrested included Mubarak Abdullahi, Sanusi Muhammed, Ahmed Bello Buzu, Usman Idris Zico, Musa Abdullahi, Ibrahim Lawali and Yusha’u Mamman.
He said, “On 4th October, 2019, Operation Puff Adder attached to Tudun Wada Division arrested the above mentioned hoodlums who have been terrorising innocent people of Gusau and its environs by committing crimes ranging from armed robbery, houses/shops breaking and snatching of vehicles/motorcycles at gunpoint.
“Their recent atrocity was at the house of the Coordinator of National Directorate of Employment (NDE) Zamfara State, where they went and robbed him and made away with his official Toyota Hillux vehicle at gun point, and later took the vehicle to Niger Republic to sell.”
The CP added that the police investigation team was led to Suleja in Niger State as well as Niger Republic where three other stolen vehicles belonging to Nura Garba Daura, of the Federal University Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State, Nasiru Ahmed of Nasarawa Tudun Wada area, Gusau and Ibrahim Sani of Sabon Gari area, Gusau were recovered.
