Leading Nigeria’s hospitality industry powerhouse, The Art Hotel Lagos, has reaffirmed its commitment to tourism, lifestyle and sports development by sponsoring a team at the ongoing 2026 Lagos International Polo Tournament.
The sponsorship was unveiled during a team presentation ceremony and media briefing held at Victoria Island, Lagos, where Captain of the Art Hotel Polo Team, Mohammed Sani, described the partnership between The Art Hotel and the Lagos Polo Club as a unique blend of art, hospitality and sport aimed at delivering unforgettable experiences. Sani noted that the Art Hotel team remains the side to beat in the highly competitive Chapel Hill Denham Open Cup.
Chairman of The Art Hotel, Habib Oniru, explained that the sponsorship was inspired by a shared vision of culture and lifestyle, with polo reflecting the same elegance, creativity and excellence that define the hotel’s brand.
The Art Hotel Polo Team boasts a formidable lineup of established Nigerian players, including Mohammed Dangote, Folarin Kuku and Ahmed Baba Dantata, further strengthened by two Argentine professionals, Fernandez Segundo and Bautista Panelo. The star-studded squad is set for fierce battles against three long-standing rivals as the race for the Chapel Hill Denham Open Cup intensifies.
Speaking on the team’s prospects, Mohammed Dangote, who also serves as Captain of the Lagos Polo Club, expressed confidence in the squad’s readiness for the campaign. He said the team’s strong chemistry, well-drilled strategies, high motivation levels and passionate supporters would serve as key assets in their quest for glory this year.
“It’s not going to be an easy ride, but we are ready to go all the way to victory. We are lucky to have the mount and the players who have the required exposure and experience to clinch the Open Cup this year,” declared the polo patron, who won four major cups with his MSD Baby-bear team last year.
