Emerging artist, Seun Adeyemi took a hint from Damien Hirst on the subject of recreating ancient sculpture to look modern and interesting to the younger generation of art lovers. According to the artist, “The core idea behind the series is to promote our culture by giving Africa’s artistic representation, with a focus on the past and a feeling of life and uniqueness.”

Although this has a strange vibe to it, the efforts of this artist must be commended, as he obviously thought outside the box. Adeyemi finds a way to introduce young Nigerians to old works of art by recreating them to look like humans in his ongoing series titled, “iLove ArtNG”.

Adeyemi reveals that his series was followed with a lot of criticism, but that, that did not discourage him as he believes that the project is for a good cause. 

“It was a bit mysterious, creepy to some people and some others loved the concept behind the project,” he said.
