The second edition of The Green We Left Behind Anthology, which compiles intergenerational stories from Nigerians on climate change, was launched by Arts Lounge Literary Magazine yesterday.
The project, which was co-curated by US-based English professor Unoma Azuah and Adaeze M. Nwadike, founding editor of Arts Lounge Literary Magazine and the Green We Left Behind Project, began in January with a call for submissions from members of the general public on the topic of climate change and how it affects Nigerian children.
During the book’s launch, which took place at the National Children’s Park and Zoo in Abuja, problems related to climate change and the recent crises in Nigeria were highlighted.
Nwadike advised Nigerians to be aware of the effects of their activities on the environment while discussing the project since it is the most significant legacy we will leave our children.
The project included a writing competition, which was supervised by Professors Unoma Azuah, Sule Emmanuel Egya, and Amuche Nnabueze. The winners were awarded cash awards at the end of the event.
