The Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) has ordered the immediate closure of all markets within its jurisdiction..

Among markets to be affected by the directives are  Karu, Utako, Nyanya, Karmo markets.

The council, in a statement signed by the council’s secretary, Rahmat Abdullahi said the closure was due to coronavirus. “As part of the social distance measures, I have been directed to inform you that the council has ordered the closure of all markets under its jurisdiction with immediate effect,” she said.

She said traders selling food items and pharmacies are exempted by the directive, adding that the council shall commence enforcement of the directive today.
