Former members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and loyalists of former Kano State governor, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, on Saturday defected to the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kuje Area Council.

Speaking on behalf of the decampees, said to be about 2,700, leader of PDP Kwankwasiyya group in the area, Alhaji Musa Hassan Shama, said their decision followed the directive of their principal, Senator Kwankwaso, who has since asked all his followers to join him in the PDP.

He said it was unfortunate that the change they voted for in the last election was a big mistake, adding that it was evident that many people are faced with hunger, poverty and insecurity under the present APC administration.

They pledged their total support to the PDP.

The state chairman of PDP in the FCT, Alhaji Ibrahim Biko, who received the decampees, commended them for their foresight in pitching their tent with the PDP.

He asked them to feel relaxed as the party is now their home, and assured them that a level playing ground will be enjoyed by to all of them.

On his part, the PDP chairman in Kuje, Alhaji Ismaila Yenche, assured them that were free to seek for any position both elective and appointive.
