Speaking at the workshop, chairman of the firm, Alhaji Abba Kale said the event was aimed at educating the associations on the new entrepreneurship techniques and how to improve their skills on the existing ones.

Kale pointed out that the training was part of the agreement the company entered with Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) as poverty and unemployment eradication strategy.

He said the training had offered participants the opportunity to improve on their trade as a result of knowledge they acquired in the workshop.

According to him “local bean cake sellers were trained how to package their product at the training while butchers have also learned the use of refrigerators to preserve their meat in order to maximize profit”.

The chairman urged the general public to seek loan from financial institutions in the country to engage in one business or the other so as to be self reliance and fight unemployment.

He stated that the National Poverty Eradication Program (NAPEP) under its new policy of Multi Partner Matching Fund (MPMF) went into partnership with Kalef Ventures as a new approach to aggressively fight poverty in Borno State.

Under the partnership, he said the company was charged with tasks of disbursing cash loans and economic items to cooperatives who registered with the company, carry out all follow ups and also recover loans allocated to cooperative societies.

Alhaji Kale explained that in the phase of the disbursement, five registered cooperatives societies got cash and items worth N6m that would facilitate economic activities for their teeming members and N12 million loan to small scale traders to eradicate poverty across the state.

In the second phase, he added that five other cooperatives societies also received cash and materials to the tune of N6m, saying the disbursement was devoid on ethnic, religious or political affiliations.
