Kano State Governor Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje on November 5 inaugurated members of his cabinet. Among them is Hon. Sunusi Muhammad Sa`id Kiru (`Majidadin Kiru`), an administrator and educationist who has spent most of his life in the academic environment. Having known the importance of education, the governor made the right choice of appointing Hon. Sunusi as education commissioner. The new commissioner held many positions both local and national and contributed immensely to the development of education in the country. It is our expectation therefore, that Hon. Sunusi will solve the numerous challenges the education sector faces in the state and assist in implementation of free and compulsory education by the present administration.

Fashola, Please, check Lokoja-Ajaokuta road
Among the many bad roads in the country is the portion of the road between Lokoja and Ajaokuta in Kogi State which has been bad for a long time now. The ever-busy road serves as a link between Abuja and the southern states through Kogi and Benue states but that portion has remained in bad condition for a very long time. Daily, it gets worse as deep gullies emerge on several spots, causing serious concern and danger to road users. I wish to once again appeal to the Minister of Works and Housing Babatunde Fashola and the Federal Executive Council to kindly and quickly address the state of that potion of the Lokoja-Ajaokuta road.

Ortom, we need your presence in Orokam
I wish to appeal to Benue State Governor Ortom to try to make his presence felt in Orokam and indeed, Ogbadibo LGA. There is this endless trend among Benue governors to concentrate attention and development in Tiv speaking areas, just as Idoma hardly ever become the state governor. I wish to urge Ortom to make a difference and make his presence felt in Orokam and by extension, Idomaland, not only in Otukpo, if there is any such presence in Otukpo so far.

Whither the pension plan for informal sector?
The federal government earlier this year launched a micro pension programme for those in the informal sector, that are not captured in the existing pension scheme for workers. I wish to know what stage it is now as I believe this plan needs to be embraced, and I feel it will be useful to the targeted groups. It is evident in the mandatory pension scheme which now gives contributors something to take home at the end of the day.
