Bishop Oyedepo, who addressed journalists at the Canaan-Land, Ota, the headquarters of the Living Faith Church Worldwide, on the forthcoming 30th anniversary of the Living Faith Church, said those who pursue money in the work of God will remain poor.
“Money-prone ministry will crash; it’s only a matter of time. So, if you pursue money, you will miss the mark,” he stressed. He advised upcoming ministers to be diligent and dedicate themselves to God’s work and riches will come at God’s appointed time.
He maintained that God’s ministry is for the hard working who can impact on the people; as it is not a calling for lazy and greedy people.
The 30th anniversary starts from this Tuesday through Sunday. He said the celebration is to thank God for the journey thus far for the ministry and thank Him for future endeavours.
He cautioned all aggrieved parties in the general elections, saying they should toe the line of peace and shun violence, adding that the violence was uncalled for. “We must learn to accept defeat as someone is bound to experience defeat in a contest.”
He noted that with time, the post election violence will end.
He called on government to provide quality education and sufficient enlightenment if it wants democracy to flourish in Nigeria saying that only education and enlightenment can help this democracy.
Speaking on the scourge of unemployment in Nigeria, he explained that unless Nigeria begins to train graduates who can create jobs rather than seek jobs, Nigeria may not be able to solve the unemployment crisis.
Following violent attacks on the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member, he said if government has no idea of making the NYSC truly impactful on the corps, it should be scrapped.
“Who will want his or her child to go to a land where he may not be safe? If we do not take time, the NYSC will be part of the stages that will divide the country because if people are not safe in other places other than theirs, there is a problem,” he noted.
Bishop Oyedepo also called on the media to shun negative reports and concentrate on positive news that can develop Nigeria.
He noted that there is more violence in New York City for instance in a day more than what the whole of Nigeria experiences daily, yet the media there don’t hype it.
