A special education teacher, Lanshima a former top athlete is an adjunct Professor at Bellarmiine University Louisville, Kentucky.  The other candidate is an Independent Mark P. Wooten, an insurance agent. Holsclaw was re-elected with relative ease in a county where Democrats hold a large lead in voter registration.
She had nearly two-thirds of the early vote against Democrat Lanshima and Wooten.
Holsclaw, 70, expressed delight saying in an interview that she believes her good showing reflects that she works “really hard to provide good customer service.”
Holsclaw, first elected clerk in 1998, has a staff of about 270 and an annual budget of about $17 million — all of which comes from a share of fees her office collects.
In his facebook account, Lanshima congratulated Holsclaw on her re-election and thanked her for the service to the community and wished her much success in the next four years. In a telephone interview with Daily Trust before the election, Lanshima had expressed confidence that he would win the election because of the number of registered Democrat voters.
“Sometimes, when people talk to me, they just want to know my story and where I come from, they are excited at what I am doing because I bring a whole new dimension to the politics,” he said.
