The ordinary sachet water, popularly known as ‘pure water’ once upon a time was sold at N10 and in some places it was even N5. Is it still the same situation in your area? Well, Abuja residents and those living in the immediate environs have been experiencing a different turn around as a bag that used to be sold at N100 suddenly rose to N400 while a satchet now goes for N20. 

We all know that the price of whatever goes up in Nigeria never comes down, rather it keeps on increasing. Everyday people are faced with a rise in the price of food items. Pure water has now joined the race. 

The implication of this is that the poor man walking on the street must have N20 in his pocket to quench his thirst. Imagine spending N200 everyday on water.

Many have reduced their food consumption due to lack of money. It is time to reduce the water intake too. The era of serving a visitor with two pieces of sachet water with a plate of food is gone. This is what our dear country holds for us. We live for today and expect the worst tomorrow
