Till date, there’s no explicit evidence at hand linking former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan to Boko Haram. Many people, home and abroad, during his time believed he had everything to do with it. Others argued that his negligence toward some office handlers coupled with him been a puppet to some ‘mafias’ within his government led to the perpetual operation of the insurgents. The arrest and confessions of Col. Sambo Dasuki may have ringed a bell for this argument. It was what led to the embezzlement and misappropriation of arms procurement funds and military allowances. It was what led to the strong hold of BH and the flee of our gallant soldiers from the battle field in a broad daylight.
GEJ’s major challenge was BH. It was what made Nigerians lose faith in him and what brought him out of office.
President Buhari today, despite the recession, having lay down BH to repose has gain so much trust. But BH is now awakening, with a terrifying revolt! Rumor has it, that most of the front line commanders, major architects of BH in captivity were released in exchange with the released Chibok Girls. It also has it, that the FG owes three months allowances for all army officers on ground fighting BH. Though, it was said that a month’s was settled to some of them towards the end of last month. If all these be true, then certainly, there’s no coincidence as to what is happening now.
It appears the President put so much trust on all his office handlers that he hardly supervises them. Obviously, this gave them the chance to do as they wish. May be one may have seen this coming the day he declared himself, among other declarations, officially, to be address as ‘Mr. President’ and do away with the word ‘General!’ I want to believe, as IBB would say, ‘a General is always a General.’ Mr. President should please be the General we voted for. He should be reminded, that this war with BH is a business to some people. It’s the most lucrative business of our modern world. They’ll stop at nothing to see that it never come to pass. Please, the death of the likes Lt. Col. Abu Ali is an experience we never want to have again.
We, the masses, think that voting Buhari to the Villa means an end to our challenges. We no longer pray as much as we do before. Community vigilante is becoming a history. We all relaxed, leaving our places of worship and market places more open and less secured than before. Buhari isn’t a God for Heaven’s sake. Terrorists will always take advantage when least expected. We need to wake up and be vigilante. May our fallen heros rest in peace.
