Precious Ayodele has won a silver medal for Ekiti, in the female single final of one of the traditional sports, Ayo, at the ongoing National Youth Games in Asaba, Delta.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Ayodele lost 0-2 to her counterpart from FCT.
The game was decided at the Indoor Sports Hall of the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba.
The rising junior player had exhibited skills and determination from the beginning of the event having won six games in a row, following the defeat of opponents from Imo, Osun, FCT, Cross River, Bayelsa and Akwa Ibom states.
Reacting, the Technical Advisor to the Governor on Sports Development, Olusola Osetoba, commended the young precious for making the state proud.
Osetoba said the state governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji would be delighted with her performance especially being her first exposure to national games.
“I am super excited that our own Precious Ayodele has made Ekiti proud in Ayo Olopon at the National Youth Games in Asaba,” she said.
NAN reports that Team Ekiti has reached the quarter-finals of the female doubles and male doubles of the game. (NAN).
