All Progressives Congress (APC) Senatorial aspirant for Niger South Senatorial District, Muhammed Rabiu Sadiq and one of the founding fathers of the party in the state, Alhaji Abubakar Katcha have resigned from the party.

Sadiq was allegedly disqualified by the APC screening committee shortly before the primaries forcing him out of the race.

He was contesting alongside the former Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Muhammad Nami, Barrister Mohammed Ndarani (SAN), and son of the late Chief Justice of Nigeria, Sani Idris Legbo Kutigi.

In a letter addressed to his ward APC Chairman, Dabban Ward in Lavun LGA, which he personally signed, Rabiu Muhammed Sadiq cited lack of internal democracy, injustice and lack of genuine empowerment of members as one of the reasons he was leaving the party.

Katcha in a letter he personally signed and addressed to the Chairman , Katcha Ward, Katcha LGA of the state,cited the process of the primaries of the Niger South Senatorial District.

“This decision follows the events of the Niger South Senatorial primary held on 18th May 2026, which did not refilect internal democracy”, he said.
