A group of yet to be identified assailants has shot dead a commercial motorcyclist, Ashimiu Lawal, and stolen his bike in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
Our correspondent reports that the victim’s corpse was found riddled with bullets in Leme area of Abeokuta South Local Government Area.
The corpse was taken to an undisclosed morgue by the police in the early hours of Sunday.
A relative of the deceased, Akintunde Sanni, confirmed the incident, on Sunday to newsmen.
Sanni said a passerby who saw Lawal’s corpse by the road went and notified the family of the incident.
“It is a painful thing, I was not there neither have we gotten any eyewitness, who can tell us what happened exactly. Our brother’s body has been deposited at the morgue by a patrol team of the police.”
The spokesperson of the Ogun State police command, Abimbola Oyeyemi, confirmed the incident, describing it as a case of robbery.
Oyeyemi added that the police had commenced investigation.
