Assembly Clerk denies holding Tiv meeting

The Clerk of the Taraba House of Assembly, Mr. Orngu Mellah, has debunked a story circulating on  social media that Tiv elites held a meeting in his residence to re-strategize.

The Tiv and Jukun ethnic groups in the state have been engaged in crises for months now.

Mr. Mellah said the posting was not only mischievous but totally falsehood aimed at tarnishing his image.

According to him, the posting was clearly intended to blackmail and cause mischief to his reputation as a clerk of the state house of assembly.

He stated further that he did not belonged to any group as named in the posting.

The clerk explained that what happened was that on September 1, 2019, his neighbour had a meeting and those that attended parked their vehicles outside the gate of his house and it was claimed a Tiv meeting was at his residence.
