The Zamfara State House of Assembly has amended the Zamfara State Emirate Council Establishment Law No. 15 of 2000 to creating two additional emirate councils, the Press Secretary of the Assembly, Nasir Usman Biyabiki, has disclosed.
The two established emirate councils known to the law are ‘Yandoton Daji Emirate with second class emir comprising ‘Yandoton Daji, Keta, Kizara, Bawa-Ganga, Kwaren-Ganuwa, Danjibga and Kunchin-Kalgo districts with its headquarters at Birnin ‘Yandoto, while Bazai Emirate with second class emir also is to have its headquarters at Jangeru with Bazai, Jangeru, Galadi, Katuru, Birnin Yaro Tungar Kaho and Tubali districts.
The bill, first passed 22 years ago, was amended and sent to the governor after being presented to the assembly by the Deputy House Leader, Hon. Nasiru Bello Lawal Bungudu.
Debating the bill, the lawmakers stressed the need to allow for the creation of more emirate councils in the state, considering their roles in the socio-economic development of the society.
