Bauchi State House of Assembly has urged the state government to construct more access roads in the state’s metropolis to address incessant traffic gridlocks and congestions on the highways.
This followed a motion calling on the state government to construct and rehabilitate some access roads in Bauchi Metropolis moved by Jamilu Umaru Dahiru (Bauchi Central Constituency) during plenary of the House presided over by Speaker Abubakar Y Suleiman in Bauchi yesterday.
Leading debate on the motion, Jamilu explained that Bauchi metropolis being the state capital is overpopulated and as a result; the main roads in the city are often congested.
The lawmaker urged the House to call on the state government to construct and rehabilitate access roads in the metropolis particularly the Central Market-Alkali-Aminu Residence-Bakaro- Kofar Dumi road; Central Market-Zannuwa Primary School-Yakubu Wanka road; Shekal-Gombe road; Prison-Karofi and Prison Shagari road; Federal Low-cost access roads, State Low-cost access roads and Zonal Office to Saleh-Saleh road.
The House adopted all the prayers in the motion with some amendments.
