An assistant of a truck driver died while three others sustained injuries in an accident at Ahoko Bridge, along the Abuja-Lokoja highway.
A witness said the accident happened around 6am and it involved an unmarked truck.
He said the truck driver, who was coming from Lokoja end, lost control while descending towards the bridge.
The witness said the truck crashed into a ditch, killing the driver’s assistant and injuring three other occupants.
City & Crime observed as officials of the Gegu unit command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) removed the victims from the scene into their ambulance to Abaji General Hospital.
A staff member at the hospital, who preferred anonymity, confirmed that the deceased, who was brought unconscious, died at the hospital.
An FRSC official, who was part of the rescue team, also confirmed the death of the driver’s assistant, saying his remains have been deposited at the hospital’s morgue.
